The Kellogg Global Hub

Learn, convene and be inspired

Our flagship building is purposefully designed to build community and empower a new era of business leaders.

Located on the Evanston campus along the shores of Lake Michigan, the Global Hub is Kellogg’s five-story, 415,000-square foot flagship building and is physical embodiment of our unique culture and spirit. This flexible and multifaceted building features a variety of signature classroom and convening spaces to inspire innovative forms of learning and interacting with others in the Kellogg community.

Toronto-based architectural firm KPMB Architects designed the Global Hub with the practicality to meet the needs of today’s learning environment and to anticipate those of tomorrow. Gordon Segal ’60, chair of the educational properties committee for Northwestern’s Board of Trustees, a Kellogg graduate and co-founder of Crate & Barrel, also played a leading role in the design and development of the building. The result is a space that is visually stunning, highly functional and environmentally friendly, earning the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Platinum certification for its low carbon footprint.

Explore the Global Hub

Gies Plaza

The heart of the Global Hub, this three-story atrium serves as a meeting place for the entire Kellogg community. Its defining feature is two sets of Spanish Steps, named for the famed staircase in Rome, are casual, impromptu meeting areas. Named in recognition of a gift from Larry W. Gies ’92, Northwestern trustee, and Beth G. Gies.

White Auditorium

The Global Hub’s main convening space for events, including everything from seated dinners and receptions to CEO “fireside chats." The auditorium is named in recognition of a gift from Miles D. White, a Northwestern University trustee, and Kimberly White.

Faculty Summit

Above Gies Plaza is a second atrium, the two-story Faculty Summit. The center piazza is designed to bring together faculty and PhD students from various disciplines. Surrounding this piazza are six glass-walled seminar rooms located on two stories.

Flexible classrooms

Designed for maximum adaptability, the classrooms can be reconfigured for tiered lecture-style seating, subdivided by moving walls or turned into flat classrooms. Telepresence technology enables students at other locations, such as the Miami or Chicago campuses, to beam in and fully participate as if they were in the classroom.

Galvin Family Design Wing

The Galvin Family Design Wing and Conference Center has four design studios and a creative space for student entrepreneurs to discover, test and launch new businesses. The space is named in recognition of a gift from Christopher B. Galvin ’73, ’77, Northwestern trustee, and Cynthia B. Galvin ’78.

Student Lounge

From quiet corners and comfortable lounges to workspaces and study rooms, there are many places within the Global Hub to engage in idea sharing and community interaction. The Shannon Family Lounge is one of several student gathering spaces.

Floating Collaboration Room

Conference rooms throughout the building foster small-scale collaboration and spontaneous work, and offer students a quiet respite to prepare for assignments and presentations.

Montag Vista

The Montag Vista is perfect for collaborating by day or evening. Overlooking Lake Michigan to the east and the Chicago skyline to the south, this outdoor plaza brings energy and fluidity to the Global Hub.

Gordon’s Marketplace

A state-of-the-art dining and gathering space featuring six food stations, fresh baked pizza, a salad bar, grab-and-go items and beverages. Menus are updated on a weekly basis. Relax in the main dining room or head outside to enjoy a meal from Montag Vista.

Inspiring Grounds coffee shop

A casual cafe where you can meet up with other students, faculty and administrators to connect over a cup of coffee, grab a quick pick-me-up between classes or a caffeine boost to fuel long study sessions.

Fitness Center

The Global Hub Fitness Center offers a variety of high-quality cardio equipment, including treadmills, elliptical trainers, Arc trainers and stationary bikes, as well as free weights and a resistance strength machine. Take or hold yoga or cardio classes in the Fitness Studio, located in the center of the facility.
