Paul is celebrating the publication of “The Barcode: How a Team Created One of the World’s Most Ubiquitous Technologies.” Paul had the honor of managing the IBM team that created and standardized a practical, usable barcode technology. Team members overcame countless technical and cultural obstacles to turn a dream into a real, workable and, most importantly, practical family of products. In the process, they changed the world. “In the end, that is the true test of any new invention,” he says.

Joel ’79, ’91 MBA is celebrating the publication of “The 7 Habits of Highly Dysfunctional Companies.” This humorous book is “about life at screwed-up companies observed from my many years as a cybersecurity consultant,” he writes in to say.

Scott Freidheim

In January, Scott Freidheim ’87, ’91 MBA published a memoir, “Code of Conduct: Tales of the Roller Coaster of Life.” In this captivating and insightful recollection of life events, Scott presents a unique framework for finding meaning in life’s journey. The book highlights our collective history, including his firsthand accounts of sprinting out of the World Financial Center on 9/11, navigating business in the Gulf during the Arab Spring, and engaging with superstars Michael Jackson and George Foreman.

Julia Fitzgerald 

Julia is celebrating the publication of “Midsize: The Truths and Strategies of Marketing in Midsize Firms.” Says Julia, “When the book launched last year, it debuted as a best seller in marketing and — to my surprise — career guidance. I had the opportunity to launch ‘Midsize’ at a Kellogg alumni event in Chicago. While the book focuses on the strategies and truths of marketing in midsize firms, it is filled with Kellogg contributors, references and endorsers.”

Kristin Kisska

Kristin is the author of “The Hint of Light,” released in 2023. The novel tells the story of a grieving mother who learns that her late son may have fathered a child and desperately searches for the granddaughter she never knew existed.

Analiza Quiroz Wolf

Analiza recently published “The Myths of Success: A Woman of Color’s Guide to Leadership.” Drawing on research-based practices and stories from women leaders of color featured on her podcast “Women of Color Rise,” the book empowers women of color to ascend to the C-suite. It also provides strategies for allies and organizations to support women of color at work. A former nonprofit CEO, Analiza now coaches diverse leaders and consults with leadership teams. Analiza and her husband, Alex ’05 MBA, have two kids and live in New York City.

Robert is the author of the 2024 book “Innovation Elegance: Transcending Agile with Ruthlessness and Grace,” the first in a planned trilogy of volumes that define a people-centric methodology for innovation teamwork. “Innovation Portfolio: Five Verbs Shape Your Team’s Legacy” will be available in 2024. Robert is enjoying book promotion, public speaking and consulting while helping readers and clients improve the employee experience.

Beth Santos

Beth welcomed two babies into the world in 2024: her son, born in January, and her debut book, “Wander Woman: How to Reclaim Your Space, Find Your Voice, and Travel the World, Solo.” Part solo travel guide and part manifesto, the book combats myths about who can and should travel the world alone. It equips women with the tools to explore the globe fearlessly.

Kevin is celebrating the launch of his debut cookbook for America’s Test Kitchen, “A Very Chinese Cookbook.” Written with his father, Jeffrey Pang, the book spotlights more than 100 recipes for everything from weeknight dinners to celebratory fare. It was named one of the best cookbooks of 2023 by the New York Times, Serious Eats and Amazon. Kevin and his father host “Hunger Pangs,” a YouTube series about cooking great Chinese food at home.
